Great on the Laguna 14BX Bandsaw
An outstanding solution to the Laguna factory mobile base. I had to make a few cuts but the factory hole pattern worked well without drilling. The secret is not tightening all the bolts until you have it all together and seated, then tighten them.
Excellent base . . . with one or two small issues
Purchased two to use for a band saw and jointer/planer. Assembly instructions are incomplete but straightforward to figure out. Very heavy duty and easy to roll with equipment in place, although getting tools onto it requires some planning. On one of the two units, one set of holes in the side arm were not tapped for the bolts to hold them in place; had to tap out with an M10/1.5 tap. Otherwise, very well made.
Base is awesome!
The base is sturdy and mostly easy to assemble. It’s a bit fiddly to get all the washers in place when assembling the lever mechanism but it’s more inconvenient than it is difficult. I was concerned about how much force would be required to raise and lower the feet when the base is loaded but it turns out that the levers are easy to operate even when weighted.
Great Base – Terrible Casters
I have a 600 lb, 12″” jointer on the base and the base itself is high quality and well designed. It was very easy to assemble. However, the casters are absolutely terrible and low quality. One already has a flat spot on it and all four look like they are pitting – this is after 2 days of use. It’s too bad that a $259 unit comes with such cheap casters. I’ll be looking for high quality replacement casters. This is something that should not have to be done on such an expensive base.
Solid base
I put this on a 20″” Powermatic planer and it now moves around easily. Well made product
